Selecting software is probably one of the key decisions for any undertaking on the web. Having used other software for a long time and even previously broken down and written my own, choosing to go with something new [to me] has been challenging.
To Free or not to Free
When the price of software is under $100, in the past, I’ve considered it to be basically free. This is mostly due to the cost of other things in my life I find essential that often fall within that range. That said money is money, and free is really appealing. I did actually buy a copy of ExpressionEngine, install it, and play around with it for a while before abandoning it as just too much work for what I wanted to achieve. Having tried the pay route I decided to go back to the great free options out there. In addition, it helped me rethink exactly what I wanted to produce.
